A-B = 1/Four of hip spherical + 1/2 "

C-D = 1/4 of hip spherical + 1.5″

F-E = 1/4 of Knee spherical + 1.5″ the place E is marked at waist to knee measure

J-H = 8″H-I = 2″ 

For the entrance Mermaid skirt pattern

A-C = 1/Four of waist spherical + 1 1/4″

A-B = 1″ This is for a slight dip within the front waist

D-E = 1/Four of hip spherical + 1 1/4″

F-G = 1/4 of knee spherical + 1.5″

J-K = 8″K-I = 2″ 

Step 2. Mark the slit for godets

One each the front and back pattern mark a line from the center fold such that A-B is 1/Eight of hip spherical. Mark the duration of the line 18.5 inch from the bottom edge . Cut throughout the line

Step 3 Make the godet pieces.

You want 4 of these godets to sew on to the 4 slits you may have – 2 for front and 2 for back . Mark the godets on folded fabric like below and cut it out. You can have Four triangular shaped godets

Step 4. Sew the godets to the skirt

Now you have to sew these pieces to the minimize/slit you have got made. Align the godet pieces at the reduce area and spot if it suits. For me I needed to trim slightly from the bottom

Keep it at the edge right aspects together and stitch the pieces to the slit

On the again of the piece trim seam allowance and clip the seam allowances.

Step 5 Facing for the front skirt most sensible edge

Cut a piece of material matching the top edge of the front bodice with height of a minimum of Five inches. This is for the dealing with of the highest fringe of the front skirt piece. You have to make tabs for the elastic now. Stitch two items of fabric into two tubes . The items should be 1″ in duration and a pair of 1/Four inches extensive.

Cut elastic piece of width 3/Four inch and length 1/2 of your waist minus 2 inch . Keep this on each side of the elastic piece you have got reduce out, insert the elastic within and sew in place

Inser this tabbed elastic throughout the waistband with a pin. Stitch the edges securing the elastic at the waistband You can sew throughout the elastic as neatly for double security. Now you have an elastic waistband with out the bunching up on the facet seams as a result of the tab you might have made.

Step 7 Hook tab

Make another tab for sewing the hooks. Fold a work of fabric ( interface for extra energy) 2.5 inch wide and 1 inch long. Sew the facet and one top edge as in the image underneath

Turn to the opposite aspect and you will get a tab as follows

Keep this tab at the extension you will have at the again skirt one side. Use two or 3 sewing strains to protected this

Step 9 . Sew side seam of one aspect

Now sew one of the most side seams of the back and front skirts together ( the aspect seam with out the hook tab ofourse) The facing will have to be ideally kept up when stitching this aspect seam

Now carry the dealing with down and Now stitch the facing as well. Looks neater this way

Step 10 Sew the other side and fasten zipper

Now you need to stitch the opposite side seam. Mark some 7 inch from the highest edge on the side seam. Join the side seam leaving this 7 inch distance unstitched. Here it's a must to connect the zipper

To attach the zipper. You can sew abnormal zipper to the seam as smartly. But I have selected to glue the invisible zipper right here.

Keep the invisible zipper on one edge. You can connect the invisible zipper with an invisible zipper foot quicker. The grooves will permit the zipper coils to cross thru  simply while you stitch as regards to the zipper tooth. Stitch the zipper to each aspect edges.

When you have got performed this, flip the to edge to the back of the skirt and  hand stitch or gadget sew in place.

Top stitch the zipper coil in position. Use the odd zipper foot for this, so to stitch carefully to the zipper teeth.

Step 11 Hand stitch hook and eye

Step 12 Hem the ground edge of the skirt.
